Kathleen’s out of surgery!
March 14th, 2007
Good news! Kathleen just left surgery, and everything went better than we expected. The spot in her bladder was contained enough that only 10% more (about the same amount as removed last year) of the bladder was removed. The mass connected to her right ovary did not affect any other organs. The mass was removed along with her right ovary, but her left ovary and uterus remain intact and in place. She’s in recovery now, and we can’t wait to see her (a couple of hours)! Continue sending her your healing thoughts and prayers – they’ve been working wonders so far. This is as good an outcome as we could have hoped for going into surgery. – Howard, Diane, Brian
Tears of joy and relief!
Hooray! My arms are around you Katalina. Five classes crowded into the Little Theatre and sang to you and lit a candle for you. Many loving tears were shed and much loving energy sent from our warmed hands and our loving hearts “hasta San Francisco!” We sang “Kwaheri” to your cancer and L.O.V.E. to you! Dearest, we love you so much and can hardly wait to be put to work in helping you in whatever you need! Rest! Peace! Thank you Howard, Diane and Brian!
love Therese, Lars, Dominic and Linus
We kove you.
We also love the whole support crew!
Glad to her the good news. Best of luck on your recovery.

O Kathleen, wonderful news! How could it be otherwise, with so many storming heaven’s gate and other portals on your behalf.
Much love and wishes for deep healing and dreams coming true.
Amber
What incredible news! Michaela, Katy, Phoebe and I wrote to you, read our poem/notes, lit your mango candle and sang This Little Light of Mine to you while sitting on the daisy-strewn grass in the glorious sunshine at the park this afternoon. (We also had some ice cream and decided we want to have ice cream with you soon, soon, soon!)
Muchisimos abrazos,
Lois, Michaela, Katy, Phoebe
Ditto Amber’s comments! Your Thursday chefs (Barbara Fuller, Marcia Adams and I) can hardly wait for you to return to an appetite so we have a good excuse to see you. We’re eager but patient ’til Caitlin signals us.
Good thing all these abrazos are virtual if you have lots of stitches.

Dear Kathleen:
Last year I looked up the root of of the word “surgeon”–which used to be spelled with a “ch” (like chiropractor.) It comes from two ancient Greek words for “hand” and “art”.
That’s what I had center in my thoughts for you today.
You give as you receive; this blog has been a gift to us who orbit it as well.
Best, Kim S.
We are thrilled!! We joined with the others in song to you at noon today. (thank you, Therese and others for your efforts)….those little angels at DeLaVeaga sang their healing songs of energy and love to you today….and (among other things) it worked!! -Much love, Pascha, Charlie, Emilie and Bella ox ox
Oh my gods and goddesses! All day I kept trying to imagine Kathleen without her bladder and I just couldn’t do it. You go Kathleen! Keep feeling strong and whole!
Kathleen, I am just thrilled at the good news and so are the rest of the “pray-ers” here at the Center. You are held in prayer and love. Now, rest easy and heal ever so gently. Love, Sister Aileen
Thank you.
YES YES YES! Thankyou life…can’t wait to see you back with Howard and kitties in your Santa Cruz home!
Dane
Well done, my dear and glorious sister of the heart, well done!
You are our marvelous flowering Katalina. And will be for a long, long, long time.
Great angels wrap you in their quiet wings tonight. Sleep the peace of healing.
Our love and prayers continue.
With so much happiness, gratitude and relief.
Your friend, forever, Jenny
Hi Kathleen,
Our deepest sympathies go out to you and our family.
We are so happy to hear the great news! You are constantly in our thoughts and in our prayers!!
Life is full of surprises, some happy and some sad. It’s all about how you deal with it. What is most infectious about you, is that you are always smiling and you always make people laugh, no matter what the circumstance is. You’re a REAL TROOPER, GIRL!!! You mean so much to us, and everyone that has ever met you.
We wish that we could spend more time together, but life doesn’t always allow for that. It would be nice to see you more often.
We are just so happy to hear that you got through this hurdle and that you are moving right along to happier times! We are looking foreward to seeing you soon.
Love always,
Danon, Joey and all of the furry kids too!!
Hope you’re doing well. Sending you lots of light and love. Patti
Hi Auntie Kathleen (this is from Breegan, age 4)
” Auntie Kathleen, I love you and I wish I could see you. I wish you had a scooter right now, so we could ride on bikes and scooters. Sometimes I draw happy faces and sometimes I see happy faces. I want to give you a big hug.”
Dear Kathleen,
I asked Breegan to tell me a message to write to you just now, and despite the random scooter comment, I think her message pretty much nails it. We love you, we want to see you, and more importantly, we can all now focus on your recovery and make it a happy faced reality.
We love you & I can’t wait to see you on Saturday. Dibs on your Jell-o!! (kidding..ok, maybe not) SMOOCH..SEE YOU SOON!!!! Love you.
Meg
Maestra Katalina,
I told Juanito this afternoon that you were all fixed up and hopefully would be back to school before too long. He said, “I know because she’s my English teacher and we have fun in her class and she teaches us too much.” We feel lucky to be a part of the Kathleen Flowers fan club. So glad to hear everything went so well. How can we get a movie to you? Hopefully you’ll be back in beautiful Santa Cruz soon to recover and rejoice
love,
Juanito, Shannon, and Aliah
Hi Sweetie, We are very happy to hear such good news! So many were praying and thinking of you today! Around 4:00 I felt so tired I finally had to take a nap. Probably when all the support group were able to have a sigh of relief. We are really looking forward to seeing you when you are up to it! What extra good news today! Dreaming all those dreams of the future, and opening to the flood of love coming your way must certainly be impacting every cell in your body. It was joyful to spend an hour yesterday, while you were in surgery, sending you light and healing and prayers. Just know that you are wrapped in a huge, communal embrace from those of us who love you!
